David Denenburg is the founder of Denenburg Development, a Houston-based firm specializing in the acquisition and restoration of historic properties. His work spans the renewal of hospitals, nursing homes, shelters, warehouses, and landmark structures, with a focus on preserving Houston’s architectural legacy while adapting buildings for vibrant community use. Among his preservation projects, David saved the Cheek Neal Coffee Company Building from TxDOT’s wrecking ball, restored and reopened Station 3, Houston’s historic 1903 horse and carriage served firehouse, for which he received a Good Brick Award from Preservation Houston, and is redeveloping its original horse stables into a companion event venue. He also oversaw the restoration and fabrication of the original windows and doors at the Waddell Furniture Warehouse and the Gribble Stamp & Stencil Co. Building, and is currently leading the redevelopment of the original U.S. Schlumberger Well Surveying Company headquarters into a boutique hotel and private swim club. In addition to his development work, David serves on the Board of the East Downtown Management District, was appointed to a special TxDOT advisory board overseeing Houston’s $11 billion freeway expansion project, and contributes to planning efforts for the 2026 FIFA World Cup coming to EaDo. He also serves on the board of Arrivederci ALD, a nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness and advancing research for adrenoleukodystrophy—a cause that is deeply personal, as his wife and two of his children are diagnosed with the condition.
