Mark Sullivan is the founder of SULLTRAIN – a Fields Company, a communications consulting and media relations firm created in partnership with The Fields Companies CEO Jay Fields. As the ninth subsidiary in the Houston-based holding company’s growing portfolio, SULLTRAIN specializes in transformative projects that position Houston and its stakeholders for the future. A native Houstonian, Mark brings more than two decades of experience in public relations, media, and content strategy. After earning a B.A. in Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin and an M.A. in English from New Mexico State University, he began his career in New York City at the boutique investment firm James D. Wolfensohn, Inc., working under former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker. He went on to serve as a writer and producer for CNN Financial Network while contributing as a freelance writer to regional and national publications. He returned to Texas in 2002, serving as Senior Features Editor at a luxury lifestyle magazine before joining Houston-based Studio Communications. In 2008, he co-founded the local lifestyle news outlet CultureMap and launched On the Mark Communications (OtMC), a boutique public relations agency representing clients across hospitality, healthcare, real estate, the arts, retail, entertainment, and civic institutions. In 2018, he merged OtMC with Studio Communications to create Public Content, where he served as founding partner and Director of Business Development for five years before establishing SULLTRAIN in January 2024. Mark is an active supporter of Houston’s nonprofit and cultural community, including organizations such as Blue Tile Project, Alley Theatre, Discovery Green, Catastrophic Theater, Menil Collection, Rothko Chapel, Big Brothers Big Sisters Texas, Recipe for Success, and the Orange Show Center for Visionary Art, where he sits on the Board of Directors. He is also the proud father of 6-year-old twins, Peter and Mariquita.
